I Heart Fashion: Vogue Italia Does 'Black Allure'

Following the iconic "Black Issue", Vogue Italia has returned with a stunning and equally monumental editorial "Black Allure"  featuring the new generation of beautiful black models. Lending their decadent allure to the issue are Chanel Iman, Jordan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Joan Smalls, Ajek Deng, Arlenis Sosa Pena, Melodie Monrose, Kinee Douf, Lais Ribeiro, Rose Cordero, Mia Aminata Niaria and Georgie Baddiel. 

This is a great step in the right direction for  models of colour, however the dateless issue of discrimination within the modelling industry still ensues-a topic of debate highlighted by  Editor In Chief  of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani on her blog, where she pens "Is skin colour still an issue?"

"“We continue to give it [diversity] more space in the magazine and website. The truth is that real beauty doesn’t care for skin color or nationality.”

The girls look unreservedly divine in the Harlem Renaissance inspired issue-with that said, my only concern is based on the rarity and often non-existent presence of black models in mainstream fashion magazines. Why should their relevance be limited to a special magazine edition as opposed to regular features ?

I Heart Music: Happy Birthday Bob Marley & J Dilla

This weekend-Sunday 6th February marked what would have been  the late great Bob Marley's 66th Birthday.


Today marks what would have been the greatest producer of all time, James Dewitt Yancey's aka J Dilla's 37th Birthday. Both genius's have left an incomparable legacy of music behind and their music will continue to inspire me.

I Heart Music (News): Sade Announces John Legend Will Join Her On Tour

Queen of timeless music, Sade has appointed icon in the making, John Legend to join her on tour. 


The legendary singer announced today that the supreme pianist and singer/songwriter will be sharing the stage with her throughout her summer tour. Legend who is currently nominated for five awards at this years Grammy, declared "I'm very excited to join Sade on her summer tour.  She is an incomparable artist and I'm honored to share the stage with her," said John Legend.  "I know we'll provide our fans with an experience to remember.  I can't wait to start the tour."
