I Heart Music (News): Kanye West And G.O.O.D Music Team To Headline South By South West?

Rumors have it that Kanye West and his G.O.O.D Music protege will be headlining the annual Texan music festival South By South West (SXSW) this year. According to sources, West and the GM team will take over the stage on March 19th, at midnight and a promo video for the event- which also happens to feature Kanye West's 'Runway' in the background adds further speculation to a possible performance.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

SXSW kicks off from March 11th-20th.

I Heart Music (Video): Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco And Mos Def Freestyle Manifesto

Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Mos Def presented something of a triple threat at the Blue Note Jazz Club, in New York over the weekend. The trio took to the stage with a freestyle manifesto, much to the excitement of the crowd and to the envy of many (including myself) who could only dream of witnessing these unconquerable artists, grace the stage in their home town.

Suck up the self pity and press play.

I Heart Music (Video): Kanye West Ft Rihanna & Kid Cudi 'All Of The Lights'

Kanye West has finally delivered the visuals for his star studded single 'All The Lights'. Although the kaleidoscopic video doesn't include all of the artists which featured on the original track, such as Elton John, Alicia Keys, Fergie, John Legend, La Roux and The Dream-it does however, feature Rihanna and Kid Cudi.

You have to hand it to West, he knows how to visually capture (with the help of Hype Williams who directed the video on this occasion) the true essence of his songs.

Thanks Team

I Heart Music (Video): Nas And Damian Marley 'Patience'

Distant relatives Nas and Damian Marley have dropped the video for their new track, 'Patience'.

Kanye West just described the Nabil directed video as "Super dope" via his twitter. I guess there's only one way to find out.

Press play.

I Heart Music (Video): The Portland Cello Project Cover Kanye West's 'All Of The Lights.

'All Of The Lights' is definitely one of the stand out tracks on Kanye West's platinum selling album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and considering  nigh enough every relevant artist is featured on it, it would be safe to assume that we've already heard the song in it's finest form.
That was the case, until I came across Portland Cello Project orchestra 's stunning rendition  of Kanye's budding anthem.

Simply Beautiful.

Listen, breathe and follow the light.

I Heart Music: Jay Z And Kanye West Reveal H.A.M Artwork

Kanye West continues to wet our appetite for the much anticipated release of his joint album 'Watch The Throne' with mentor, Jay Z. Kanye took to Twitter last night to reveal the art work cover for the first single to be taken off the album, entitled 'H.A.M'.

Rumour has it that we can expect to hear the single on 11th January. Let the good times roll...

I Heart Music (News): Kanye West And Jay Z's Collaborative Album Due In One Week

Kanye West announced that his collaborative album with Jay Z, 'Watch The Throne' will be released next week. West made the champagne induced  announcement whilst partying at the Marquee night club in Las Vegas with Jay Z on New Years Eve (31st December 2010).

Your guess is as good mine as to whether the news is true, however, watch the moment as captured by Seth Browarnik, to make your own decision.

As for Rihanna's sudden splashment outburst, absolutely hilarious!

HAPPY NEW YEAR: I HEART 2010

2010 is well and truly behind us, however take a look at the music, fashion and everything in-between that made it the memorable year (in my opinion of course) that it was.

I Heart Music 2010:
 The ArchAndroid,Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae's album is spellbinding and her voice is nothing short of majestic. Having been one of the first people to witness Janelle perform live at her first London Show, back in 2009, I was instantly overthrown by her refreshing and enchanting sound. Journeying  the story  of Cindy Mayweather, Monae has created an album that is fearless and anti-oppressive-artistically inviting you to explore the unsurpassed imagination. Evoking the  same feeling  reminiscent of an old Walt Disney classic, Janelle has produced a stunning body of work, one of which has become apart of my daily, 7 am iTunes  ritual.

You know what to do.

Black Milk, Album Of The Year (365)

Black Milk is one of my favourite producers and his self professed 'Album Of The Year' is a statement that lives up to it's hype. Above everything else, one thing that is quintessentially unique to his sound and something that is rare on Hip hop albums of the past decade (barring his previous and just as credible album  'Tronic'), is the raw usage of live instruments. Whether it's the Detroit influence or the J Dilla home schooling, Black Milk has managed to cultivate an unlikely partnership between pulsating drums, unfeigned   lyrical content (just look to tracks such as 'Distortion') with varying melodies- a common theme displayed throughout the album but notoriously recognised on the interludes. In short, AOTY is bold, confident and compelling.
The drums on ‘365’ are over and beyond!
Press play.

I Heart Music (Video): Kanye West Ft Rick Ross, Jay-Z And Nicki Minaj-'Monster'

Finally the video for Kanye's new single 'Monster' has arrived.

Press play if you dare.

Are you scared?

Listen, breathe and scream.

I Heart Music (Video): Big Sean 'Crazy'

Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music ally, Big Sean just can't seem to escape from crazy women in his latest video.

It must be hard being a rapper these days.

Listen, breathe and say no to crazy.

I Heart Music (News): Celebrity YouTube

YouTube have announced the launch of the MyYouTube competition. The largest streaming video site will invite Kanye West, B.o.B, Rhianna, Chrisette Michelle, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber- to name a few, to help encourage fans to  subscribe to their individual YouTube pages and the artist with the most points at the end of the competition will be crowned YouTube Masterhead. In return, users will get the opportunity to win a few goodies from the participants and can view their page without leaving the home page.

The contest will run until the 5th February and will involve another 50 artists,  who have each recorded individual virals to help bolster their popularity. The spinning sensation that is Diddy, has already jump started the competition giving away  a pair of DiddyBeats Headphones but one can only giddily await what the other celebs have in store.

Check out Rhianna making her pledge below.

I wonder what the Loui Vuitton Don will be giving away? Hindity, hint, hint!

I Heart Music (News): Kanye West Interviews Rihanna

It looks as though Kanye West is becoming a jack of all trades, with music and film now under his belt, his most recent venture into journalism seems to be the latest addition to his body of work.

Interviewing label buddy Rihanna for the latest issue of Interview Magazine, the rapper asks Rih Rih a few unconventional questions we all secretly want to know the answers to.

Kanye: How does it feel to know you could have any man in the world? Or Woman. How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?
Rih Rih: Is that a real question?
Kanye:Yeah
Rih Rih: Well thank you. I don't know how to feel about that (laughs) I guess that's flattering.
Kanye: But just to have that level of power. No one woman should have all that power.

Loving the slight pun at the end of the interview Mr West, very cheeky of you!

I Heart Music (News): Russell Pens Open Letter To Kanye West

Kanye West is no stranger to harsh criticism and media scrutiny. However; Russell Simmons distinctly  highlights why (in his opinion) there is much to be admired about Ye, in his recent open letter to the ChiTown rapper via his Global Grind web site.

I Heart Music (News): Kanye West Graces 'Back To The Future Edition' Of I-D Magazine

Kanye West (my secret lover..shh, don't tell anyone!) is doing the media round. Only this time he's showing his i-D.-no, not to verify his age but for the latest issue of I-D Magazine for its 'Back To The Future' edition. Drenched in gold chains, Kanye never fails to add his own spin on things.

Speaking of I-D....
In honour of I-D Magazine's 30th Anniversary, book publisher Taschen  recently created a book that highlights the magazine covers over the last three decades. Originally founded by ex Vogue art director, Terry Jones in 1980, the book pays tribute to the British magazine's dedication to art, music and youth culture. Seen as Ye is on its latest cover, I wonder if he made the cut in time?

Only one way to find out, purchase the book at the Colette online store.

I Heart Music (Video): Kanye West Talks Openly At Press Conference

There are numerous reasons why I love Kanye West.  Aside from the fact that he has, quite frankly produced some of the best music in history, he is also one of very few artists that speaks honestly about the world around him, even if at time it makes for uncomfortable viewing.

Speaking at a press conference from KDWB 101.3's press junket, Kanye keeps it real and straight to the point. Nothing new there then.

You know what to do.

I Heart Music (Audio): Kanye West And Pusha T Interview With DJ Funkmaster Flex

Kanye West and G.O.O.D Music protege Pusha T, sat with Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex last night for what is now my favourite interview of 2010.

Speaking candidly to Flex (only the way Kanye can) the duo treated the New York listeners to host of dynamite freestyles and West touches on a few topics including the exhausted Taylor Swift incident, his collaborative album with big brother Jay Z, 'Watch The throne', Amber Rose and his eagerly awaited album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.
Pusha T also offers some insight into his up and coming projects.

Listen up.

Culture Vulture (Film): Kanye West 'Run Away'

The word 'epic' is a word often misused and entangled in modern day colloquialism, regularly giving mediocrity more credibility than it arguably deserves. Therefore when using 'epic' to describe Kanye West's short film, 'Run Away', it comes as no exaggeration.

Kanye West is a genius and 'Run Away' is just an extension of his creativity. Starring model, Salita Ebanks as the phoenix the film is visually compelling and the ideology behind it speaks volumes about modern day culture. The sound track which gives us a snippet of what to expect from Kanye's highly anticipated album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', is the perfect back drop to a stunning work of art.

Listen, breathe and learn.

'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' is out on 22/11/10
